History
More than just timber
Founded in 1946 by Alfred Vesely Sr., our family business has developed over generations into a dynamic and diversified enterprise. In 1991, Commercial Councillor Alfred Vesely re-founded the business, and today the next generation is already contributing to the company’s continued success.
In addition, since 2015, our own shipping company, AV-Line GmbH has been operating with a cargo ship between Koper in Slovenia, Morocco, Tunis, Libya and Algeria, strengthening our position as a reliable timber export partner.
Founding of Alfred Vesely TIMBER EXPORT
The company was founded in 1946 by Mr. Alfred Vesely senior.
Alfred Vesely II takes over
After 13 years of working in his parents’ company, Alfred Vesely II re-founded the business and is now overseeing its steady expansion.
Austrian Export Award
In 2004, Federal Minister Dr Martin Bartenstein and the President of the Economic Chamber of Austria, Dr Christoph Leitl, handed us the Austrian Export Award.
Honorary title, Councillor of Commerce
The honorary title of ‘Councillor of Commerce’ (Kommerzialrat) was awarded on 9th of June in recognition of outstanding contributions to business and the economy.
Silver Medal of Honor
On 6th of December, we were awarded the Silver Medal for Services from the Vienna Chamber of Commerce in recognition of our contributions to the commercial sector.
Alfred Vesely III joins the company
The next generation, Alfred Vesely III, entered the family business at an early stage, already supporting operations during his school years.
Founding of AV-LINE LLC
Since 2015, regular cargo operations between Koper, Slovenia, and Algeria and Morocco have been carried out by our own shipping company, AV-LINE LLC, utilizing its vessel, the MV AV.
Export Price
Our company was awarded the Gold Medal in the Category of Commerce by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a recognition of outstanding performance in trade and business excellence.
Founding of AV-Timber GmbH
The company was restructured from Alfred Vesely Timber Export into AV‑Timber GmbH, and today both AV‑Timber GmbH and AV‑Line GmbH operate as subsidiaries under the umbrella of AV‑Holding GmbH.
Alfred Vesely III becomes authorized signatory
Alfred Vesely III has been appointed as an authorized signatory (authorized representative), granting him comprehensive signing authority on behalf of the company.
